THE BASICS

Bit
In terms of electronic information, or computer data, nothing is smaller than the ‘bit’, an abbreviation of ‘binary digit’. These ones and zeros represent the lifeblood of a computer, buzzing between the processor, memory chips and data-storage devices, such as the hard disk.

In transit, bits are represented by nothing more than brief electronic pulses that zip through the various components on a computer’s motherboard. Bits can, however, have a physical presence too.

On a CD, for example, bits are represented as minuscule pits etched onto the disc’s surface. When these are ‘read’ by a CD-Rom drive’s laser beam, they’re converted into the electrical pulses that a computer can understand.

Obviously, a solitary bit isn’t particularly useful but, when strung together, they can represent numbers using a binary system (or base two – decimal is base 10).

Everything in a computer is represented as a binary number and everything a computer does is done by performing calculations on binary numbers. Thankfully, you don’t need to know anything about bits and binary to use a computer, but an understanding of bigger collections of bits is useful.

Byte
Eight bits make a byte and a byte is the smallest collection of bits that a computer can work with. If you know your binary, you’ll know that a byte can represent any decimal number from 0 to 255.

Bytes are also used to represent letters, numbers and other symbols using an arcane system known as ASCII so that when you type the letter A on your keyboard, the computer records it as the ASCII code 65 – represented in binary as 01000001 – which is one byte of data.

Kilobyte (Kb)
Even though it contains eight bits, a byte still isn’t much use alone and it’s only when bytes are grouped together that a computer can do something meaningful with them.

There are many reasons to hack a website, or a webmaster.Maybe you want to take a revenge or maybe you want to have fun or just learn how to do it ! You can deface the website which means replace the original index with a new one or you can gain access to the member area of the site which might be easier.

Defacing
You can deface the site through telnet or your browser by running remote commands on an old or misconfigured server, the hard thing to do is find an old server , maybe a network of a school or university would do,get a CGI BUG searcher.This program will scan ranges of IPs for web-servers and will scan them for known bugs in their cgis or other bugs and holes.You can learn how to exploite a certain hole by adding in yahoo the name of the bug/hole and the word exploit,search for “cmd.exe exploit”.There are more than 700 holes that many servers might have! You can also deface a website by finding the ftp password and just browse through the sites ftp and replace the index.htm.You do that with the : (more…)

“Am I Terrorist” a Poetry of a Muslim

“Am I Terrorist”

They call my people
blood thirsty terrorists
blowing up buildings and planes
with dynamite tied to their chests
killing civilians by the hundreds
-but am I a terrorist?

True, some of my people
of names similar to mine
do act violently in despair
when their human rights are stolen
when their suffering and plights are ignored
in the refugee camps of Sabra and Chatala.
- but am I a terrorist?

They are not living their faith
just acting on emotions and hate
full with the revenge for the oppressor
with little regard for innocent lives
they are just Muslim in name
-but am I a terrorist?

Islam, the religion of peace
teaches Muslims to respect life
“If anyone had killed one man
except in lieu of murder and mischief
it is as if he killed the whole mankind”
Same verse in Torah and Quran too
by the same God
-how could I be a terrorist?

Prophet Mohammad, Peace be upon him
was a mercy to mankind
he cared for the poor, elderly and sick
even if not from his faith
he stood in respect for a funeral procession of a Jew
he let a cat take a nap on his robe
not to disturb her, he cut his robe
He told Muslim armies not to hurt women and kids
sick and old, cut trees or kill animals just for fun
I love him so much
-how could I be a terrorist?

But why do they call us terrorists?
why not call the IRA, Red Army, Tamil Tigers
Militant Hindus or Serbians terrorists.
Why not call the militia
blowing up government buildings
and killing innocent civilians a terrorist
No, the term is reserved for Muslims
- and I am a Muslim.

We are the victims of terrorism
in Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia and Kosova
by individuals and states
with knives, guns, tanks and rape
-who is a terrorist?

I remember Serb soldiers came to my house
they killed my father and my big brother too
I miss them so much.
They raped my mom and my sister too.
I loved them so much.
Then they burned my house, my books and toys too
- and they call us terrorists.

I got scared, and fled into the woods
joined a caravan going to the border
migrating from oppression to a land of peace and freedom

I have walked two days and climbed a mountain
I am hungry and thirsty, tired and sick
My legs are weak and my feet are bleeding
unable to walk anymore
- do I look like a terrorist?

I am not a terrorist

I am a Muslim
seeking love, peace and justice
My name is Mehmet Poturvic
I am a 6 year old from Kosova
Dear God, please help me and my people.
“You alone I worship, from you alone I seek help”
